Twin Politicians

Here is a very incomplete list of political candidates we are aware of who ran for office in the past few years with ties to the twins and higher-order multiples community. We figure there have to be more political candidates out there who were twins or are parents of twins but somehow the mainstream media seems to ignore this important voting bloc.

Please let us know via email of any additions or changes to this list.

PoliticianNotes
George W. Bush
President of the United States (2000-present)
Father of 21-year-old twin daughters, Jenna and Barbara. The only U.S. President in history to be the father of twins (no U.S. Presidents were ever a twin themselves). You can learn more about the Bush Twins elsewhere on our web site.
Spence Abraham
U.S. Energy Secretary
The incumbent Abraham lost a very close election to the democratic challenger, Debbie Stabenow. He was named U.S. Energy Secretary by President Bush on Jan. 2., 2001. Abraham is the father of 8-year-old twin daughters, Betsy and Julie. He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1994 and first entered politics in 1990, serving as Republican State Chairman in Michigan under Governor John Engler (the father of triplet girls, Margaret Rose, Hannah Michelle, Madeleine Jenny, born in 1994). Here's a family photo of the Abrahams:

Kilgore Twins, Jerry and Terry Jerry--Attorney General of Virginia (Repub.)
Terry--Member of the Virginia House of Delegates
The 41-year-old twin brothers are each currently serving political office in the State of Virginia. Terry has a moustache and Jerry doesn't (Terry shaved his moustache to help media and officials have an easier time telling them apart). It's also interesting that each twin has one son and one daughter and all four children's first names begin with the letter 'K' (each has a daughter, Kayla, Terry has a son, Kyle, and Jerry has a son, Klarke).
Mosbaugh Twins, Ron and Don Ron--Republican Party Candidate for Jasper County (MO) Coroner
Don--Democratic Party Candidate for Jasper County (MO) Coroner
56-year-old twin brothers who faced each other for the county coroner spot with Ron defeating Don by a total vote count of 22,859 to 13,247. This was a mean-spirited campaign with accusations of one of the brothers (Don), penciling in his name on his brother's political signs (crossing off 'Vote for Ron' with messages that say 'Vote for Don'). Ron was the incumbent. We don't know which twin brother is older.
